What is gotdle?
gotdle is a daily Game of Thrones guessing game where Westeros becomes the puzzle board. Instead of guessing a word, you test your memory of characters, quotes, and house banners across several themed challenges.
The core thrill is deduction. One mode asks you to identify a hidden character with clues after each try, another challenges you to recognize who said a quote, and another puts your knowledge of noble house banners on trial. It is quick, fan-friendly, and surprisingly dangerous if your Game of Thrones memory is a little rusty.

gotdle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)
The main goal of gotdle is to solve the daily Game of Thrones mystery before the clues defeat you.
gotdle includes multiple challenge styles:
- Classic — guess the daily Game of Thrones character and use clues from each attempt to narrow the answer.
- Quote — identify which character said the displayed quote.
- Banner — guess the house connected to the shown banner.
The catch is that each mode tests a different kind of fan knowledge. A player who knows every Stark and Lannister may still stumble on a quote. A player who remembers famous lines may still freeze when a house sigil appears without context.
Visual clue logic looks like this:
`text Classic Mode Guess: Tyrion Lannister Game Response: Clues compare your guess with the mystery character What Changes: Wrong houses, roles, or traits are pushed off the suspect board
Quote Mode Quote: "A famous line appears on screen" Player Task: Choose who said it What Changes: Memory of scenes, tone, and character voice becomes the weapon
Banner Mode Banner: A house sigil is shown Player Task: Name the house What Changes: Heraldry knowledge decides the battle `
The trap is simple: recognizing a character is not the same as mastering the world. gotdle rewards players who remember the small details hiding between battles, betrayals, and family names.
How To Play gotdle?
Step 1 — Choose a gotdle mode
Player Action: Open gotdle and pick a daily challenge such as Classic, Quote, or Banner.
Game Response: The puzzle presents a mystery character, quote, or banner prompt.
What This Means: Each mode has a different battlefield: character knowledge, dialogue memory, or house-symbol recognition.
Step 2 — Make your first guess
Player Guesses: Jon Snow
Game Response: In Classic mode, gotdle gives clues based on how your guess compares with the hidden character.
What This Means: Jon may be wrong, but his details help eliminate part of the roster.
Step 3 — Read the clue trail
Player Guesses: Robb Stark
Game Response: More clues appear, showing whether your new guess is closer or still wandering north of the answer.
Next Constraint: Keep the clues that line up, then abandon the traits that clearly do not fit.
Step 4 — Strike before the realm collapses
Player Guesses: Arya Stark
Game Response: The answer is revealed if your deduction is correct.
Result: Victory — the daily mystery falls, and your Game of Thrones memory survives another day.
Strategy & Tips
- Start with famous characters. Major characters often give useful comparison clues because their houses, story roles, and relationships are easier to reason from.
- Use mode-specific thinking. Classic mode is deduction, Quote mode is voice recognition, and Banner mode is visual memory.
- Do not guess randomly. Every wrong answer should remove a group of possibilities from your mental suspect list.
- Remember houses and symbols. Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Greyjoy, Tyrell, Martell, and other houses can become fast elimination tools.
- Play all modes for the full challenge. gotdle is strongest when treated as a mini Westeros exam: character, quote, banner, survival.
