## What is Patchdle?

Patchdle turns the language of video-game updates into a daily identification puzzle. A short fix or balance change appears first; your job is to work out which game it belongs to. The challenge rewards noticing how games describe their weapons, characters, menus and systems.

## How to play Patchdle

1. Read the first patch-note clue and look for distinctive terminology.
2. Search for a game, select its title and press **Guess**.
3. If the guess is wrong, read the additional note that appears. A guess from the correct series or developer can also receive relationship feedback.
4. If you need another note without choosing a title, use **Skip**. It consumes an attempt, so it is a deliberate tradeoff.
5. Identify the game within six attempts, then review the result and share your score if you wish.

## What makes a useful clue?

Separate generic update language from details that narrow the field. “Fixed a crash” tells you little. A mention of a named class, an unusual crafting system or a particular competitive mode gives you something concrete to test.

For a hypothetical clue about weapon recoil and ranked matchmaking, begin with games that actually contain those systems. If another clue then describes squad revival, ask which of those candidates supports it. This example illustrates a reasoning method; it is not a daily answer.

Do not overvalue a familiar word in isolation. Different games can have similar mechanics, and a sequel may share much of its vocabulary with an earlier title. If the game reports that the franchise matches, distinguish the individual releases before using another attempt.

## Daily reset and earlier puzzles

The official site schedules a fresh puzzle at **05:00 Oslo time**. Past puzzles are available through its archive, making it possible to try the format without relying only on today's clue. Patchdle is free to play in the browser.

It is a good fit for players who follow updates and remember systems as well as screenshots. Read every revealed note together before guessing again; a small, consistent shortlist is more useful than a run of unrelated favorites.
