What is Rotatly?

Rotatly drops a scrambled grid of letters and colors in front of you, then shows the neat block pattern it is supposed to become. The catch is brutal: you cannot move a single tile wherever you please. Every rotation drags several cells around with it, so fixing one region can quietly destroy another.

Your goal is to recreate the target outline, whose bordered regions show which cells must belong together. Solve it however you can—or turn the puzzle into a battle for efficiency by matching the published minimum move count. Rotatly presents dated puzzles and lets players revisit earlier challenges. Rotatly Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

The board: A compact grid contains repeated letters and colors such as A, B, C, and D.

The target: Thick borders divide the target outline into separate blocks.

• Cells inside the same target block MUST contain the same letter or color.
• Separate target blocks must represent separate groups.
• When a target block is colored, that exact color is LOCKED IN for the block.
• When the target block is uncolored, concentrate on reproducing the grouping pattern rather than assigning a particular color.

The movement trap: Each blue node controls the four cells surrounding it.

A clockwise rotation transforms the local group into:

• Click a blue node to rotate clockwise.
• Press and hold or right-click a node to rotate counterclockwise.
• On touch devices, you can slide across three neighboring cells to indicate a rotation and its direction.
• Every rotation counts as one move, and the real prize is solving the board in the fewest moves. ([rotatly.com][2])

How To Play Rotatly?

1. Read the battlefield. Compare the scrambled grid with the bordered target outline. Identify which repeated letters need to become neighbors.

2. Choose a rotation point. Suppose the four cells around Node 5 are:

   A B C A

   Player Action: Tap Node 5 for a clockwise rotation.

3. Watch the group move. The four cells become:

   C A A B

   Result: The two A cells now touch and may fit inside one target block—but B and C have also shifted.

4. Repair the collateral damage. Hold another blue node to rotate counterclockwise, preserving the new A group while moving the remaining letters toward their outlined regions.

5. Finish and compare. When every bordered block contains one matching group, Rotatly declares the puzzle solved and compares your move total with the minimum solution.

Rotatly Strategy & Tips

• Plan around overlaps. Neighboring blue nodes share cells, so your next rotation can undo the previous one.
• Protect completed regions. Once a block is correct, prefer nodes that disturb as few of its cells as possible.
• Work from constrained colors. Colored target blocks reveal exactly which group belongs there, making them strong starting anchors.
• Use counterclockwise moves deliberately. Three clockwise turns equal one counterclockwise turn, but cost three moves instead of one.
• Undo experiments. A promising rotation can expose the solution structure even when you immediately reverse it.
