What Balatrodle is
Balatrodle is a fan-made daily guessing game built around Balatro's Joker roster. You are not playing poker hands or building a run. You are trying to name one hidden Joker from the full set of 150, using the same stats players already stare at in the shop: buy price, rarity, what the card actually does, whether it rolls chance, and whether the printed number grows or shrinks over a run.
It is a short knowledge check for people who already live in that collection screen. If you have never opened Balatro, the names will look like noise. If you have, the first green rarity tile often cuts the field in half.
The core twist
Every guess is a real Joker name. After you submit it, Balatrodle scores that card against today's answer on several tracks at once:
- Cost — shop price in dollars. A miss within $2 counts as close.
- Rarity — Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary.
- Ability — the job the card does, grouped into buckets such as + Mult, + Chips, X Mult, creation, retrigger/copy, economy, hands/discards, and other.
- RNG — true when the Joker text lists a probability ("1 in 6", "1 in 2", and so on).
- Scaling — true when the value printed on the Joker goes up or down as you play.
Feedback uses three states, not letter boxes:
- Correct (green) — that trait matches today's Joker.
- Close (gold) — cost is within $2, or the ability is a near cousin (for example + Mult sitting next to X Mult).
- Incorrect (dark) — that trait does not match.
Match enough of the same criteria and the game starts leaking letters from the hidden name. More matching traits means a fuller hint. That name drip is the thing that turns a wide Joker list into a solvable last guess.
There is one shared Joker each day. The official site is a daily mode; you play until you lock the name, then wait for the next card.
How to play
- Open balatrodle.com and type a Joker you actually remember. Search-as-you-type is there so you do not have to spell Ceremonial Dagger from memory.
- Read the row that comes back. Treat rarity and the yes/no flags first. "Uncommon, scales, no RNG" already throws out Gros Michel, Blueprint, and most flat +4 Mult commons.
- Use cost as a ruler, not a target. A gold cost tile means you are in the same price band, so a $6 guess pointing at a $7–$8 Rare is useful even when the name is wrong.
- When ability goes gold, stay inside that family. If + Mult is close, the answer is more likely X Mult or another scoring effect than an economy or discard card.
- Watch the name hint as matching traits stack. Fill the remaining blanks from Jokers that already satisfy the green tiles, then submit. A correct name ends the daily.
Example of a useful miss: you guess Gros Michel ($5 Common, + Mult, RNG yes, scaling no) and get gold on cost, dark on rarity, gold-ish on ability, dark on RNG, green on scaling. You now want a mid-price non-common that grows or shrinks and is not a listed-probability banana. That is a much smaller pile than 150 names.
Tips if you play Balatro
- Open with a card that splits the board. A $6 Uncommon with a clean ability (Castle, Satellite, Mime) tells you more than another $4 Common + Mult face.
- Memorize the five Legendaries as a group: Canio, Triboulet, Yorick, Chicot, Perkeo. They all cost $20. One green Legendary tile ends the rarity hunt immediately.
- RNG is the printed chance, not "this card feels swingy." Misprint and Lucky Cat trip the flag. Blueprint does not.
- Scaling is the number on the card changing: Runner stacking chips, Ceremonial Dagger eating Jokers, Ice Cream melting. A flat +4 Mult Joker is not scaling just because your score went up.
- When two Jokers share cost, rarity, and ability, wait for the name hint instead of spraying the whole family (The Duo / The Trio / The Family is the usual trap).
- You only get one official puzzle a day. If you want to keep guessing, that is a separate habit, not the site's default loop.
