What is Harrypotterdle?

Harrypotterdle is a collection of daily guessing games for Harry Potter fans. Its modes test different kinds of Wizarding World knowledge, from recognizing a character through comparison feedback to identifying a spell or location from a written description.

Choose the mode that matches what you remember best. Someone who recalls dialogue may enjoy Quote, while a player who knows character details can begin with Classic.

The five game modes

  • Classic: guess the mystery character and use the returned character information to narrow the answer.
  • Quote: identify who said the displayed line.
  • Spell: recognize a spell from its description.
  • Description: identify the character described by the clue.
  • Location: name the place being described.

Classic also advertises additional hints after several tries, including whether the character is alive and their occupation. The other modes use their own clues, so you should read the current board rather than apply Classic's structure to every puzzle.

How to get started

  1. Pick Classic, Quote, Spell, Description, or Location from the home screen.
  2. Read the prompt and select an answer of the right type for that mode.
  3. Submit a guess and examine the feedback or newly available clue.
  4. Use the combined information to narrow your next answer instead of repeating a candidate that no longer fits.
  5. Finish the daily challenge, then try a different mode for another kind of puzzle.

Tips for using your Harry Potter knowledge

In character modes, separate what a person is known for from details the clue actually states. In Quote, think about the speaker's personality and the scene where the line would make sense. For Spell and Location, focus on the precise effect or purpose rather than a loose thematic association.

These puzzles can refer to story events and character fates. If you are still reading the books or watching the films, that is relevant when choosing which clues to open. Colorblind and language controls are available from the game's header.
