What is runedle?

Runedle drops one mystery Old School RuneScape NPC somewhere in Gielinor and dares you to identify them. Enter a character name, lock in the guess, and receive a row of evidence covering gender, race, region, combat level, and release date.

The trap is that knowing famous bosses is not enough. A correct race can still leave dozens of suspects, while an obscure location arrow may send you digging through forgotten quest characters. Normal mode uses a more recognizable selection of NPCs, while Expert mode opens the gates to a much larger and considerably more dangerous character pool.

runedle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

Each submitted NPC creates a comparison row:

Portrait | Gender | Race | Region | Combat Level | Release Date | Name

• Green field: That attribute matches the hidden NPC.
• Red field: That attribute is wrong and must be reconsidered.
• Region arrow: Points from your guessed NPC's location toward the hidden character's location. Matching the broad region can turn the field green while the arrow continues helping you pinpoint the target.
• Combat Level arrow: 75 ↑ means the target has a higher combat level; 75 ↓ means lower.
• Release Date arrow: 2013 ↓ means the hidden NPC was released earlier; an upward arrow means later.
• N/A: Some non-combat characters have no combat level, and matching that status can eliminate an enormous part of the roster.

Runedle does not trap you inside a tiny fixed number of attempts. You CAN continue submitting valid NPC names until the mystery character falls, although every extra guess becomes part of your final score.

How To Play runedle?

1. Send out a recognizable scout

Player Guesses: Nieve

Result: Female ✓ | Human ✓ | Kandarin ✗ ↘ | N/A ✓ | 2013 ✗ ↓

What This Means: The target is a female human without a combat level. She is located away from Kandarin in the indicated direction and was released before 2013.

2. Test the suspected region

Player Guesses: The Lady of the Lake

Result: Female ✓ | Human ✓ | Asgarnia ✓ | N/A ✓ | 2002 ✗ ↓

What This Means: The target is in Asgarnia and predates 2002. The location arrow now helps distinguish NPCs within that region.

3. Shrink the suspect list

Open the glossary and focus on female human NPCs connected to Asgarnia. Remove anyone with a combat level or a release date later than the clue allows.

4. Make the finishing guess

Choose the remaining NPC whose exact location best matches the arrow. A completely green row ends the hunt and records how many attempts survived the journey.

runedle Strategy & Tips

Start with characters whose attributes you already know rather than throwing random names into the wilderness. NPCs with distinctive races, extreme combat levels, or unusual regions produce more useful opening information.

Treat the region arrow as a compass rather than a simple correct-or-wrong marker. Once gender and race are locked in, location and release date usually cut through the remaining suspects faster than repeatedly guessing similar characters. In Expert mode, the glossary is not surrender—it is survival equipment.
