What is The Daily Hue?
The Daily Hue turns museum art into a focused color puzzle. Each day selects a real artwork and hides one featured shade, leaving you to recreate it with hue, saturation, and lightness controls.
It is both a visual challenge and a small art discovery ritual. Solving the color, or finishing the available attempts, opens a gallery of other works connected by that hue.
The Daily Hue Game Rules
- Study the day's artwork and the color chosen from it.
- Adjust Hue, Saturation, and Lightness to build your guess.
- You have up to five attempts to match the hidden values.
- Direction indicators narrow the possible range after a guess.
- An exact slider value locks, so it no longer needs adjustment.
How To Play The Daily Hue?
- Study the artwork: decide whether the target feels warm or cool, vivid or muted, bright or shadowed.
- Make a balanced first guess: place all three HSL sliders near your best visual estimate.
- Read the arrows: use the higher-or-lower guidance for each unlocked value.
- Protect exact values: leave any locked slider alone and concentrate on the remaining dimensions.
- Open the gallery: match the shade or use the fifth attempt to reveal the result and related works.
The Daily Hue Strategy & Tips
Treat lightness and saturation as separate questions. A pale color can still be highly saturated, while a dark color can be muted. Use the artwork's neighboring colors as context, but remember that surrounding tones can make the target appear warmer or brighter than it is in isolation.
