What is TimeGuessr?

You’re standing on a street—but something feels off. The cars look older. The buildings feel unfamiliar. The air itself seems… from another time. Where are you? And more importantly—when are you?

TimeGuessr takes the GeoGuessr formula and twists it into a time-travel puzzle. You’re not just figuring out a place—you’re decoding an era. Every detail becomes a clue: fashion, signage, vehicles, architecture. It’s a double challenge where geography and history collide, and getting one right doesn’t guarantee the other.

TimeGuessr Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

• 🌍 Random Location Drop: You are placed in a real-world Street View scene.
• 🕰️ Two Guesses Required:
  • 📍 Where (map location)
  • 📅 When (year)
• 🚗 Limited Exploration: You CAN move around—but only within the available Street View paths.
• 🎯 Scoring System:
  • Closer location = more points
  • Closer year = more points
• ⚠️ Deceptive Clues: Old buildings can still exist today, and modern places can look ancient.

How To Play TimeGuessr?

Step 1: Scan the Scene
View: A dusty street with boxy cars and faded shop signs
You start hunting for clues—language, license plates, architecture.

Step 2: Form a Location Guess
Player Guess: 📍 Spain
The buildings and signs suggest Southern Europe.

Step 3: Estimate the Time
Player Guess: 📅 1985
The cars and photo quality hint at the late 20th century.

Step 4: Submit and Compare
Result:

• 📍 Actual: Portugal (close!)
• 📅 Actual: 1992 (slightly off)

Step 5: Learn from the Differences
You notice details you missed—language nuances, newer signage, subtle tech clues.
