What Is Wordey?
Wordey is a daily general-knowledge category game played out on a golf course. Each accepted answer builds the distance of your next shot, creating a choice between quickly listing familiar answers and finding something less obvious.
Name as many answers as you can in 60 seconds. Rare answers earn Birdies, Eagles and WORDEYs that multiply your drive, and quick-fire answers stack up bonuses too. Three questions, one giant drive. How far can you go?

Wordey Rules and Core Twist
Everyone receives the same three daily questions, with 60 seconds per question. Each question asks for answers within a category and includes a note explaining what counts. Type an answer and press Enter to submit it.
Accepted answers contribute both base distance and, for rarer grades, a multiplier bonus:
| Answer grade | Base distance | Added to the shot multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Par | 20 yards | None |
| Birdie | 30 yards | +0.2 |
| Eagle | 40 yards | +0.5 |
| Albatross | 60 yards | +1 |
| WORDEY | 80 yards | +2 |
The multiplier starts at ×1. Bonuses add together rather than multiplying one another. The shot's total base yards are multiplied by the resulting multiplier. Rarity grades are assigned in advance and remain the same for everyone playing that day's course.
Quantity earns bonuses too. Within one shot, reaching 5, 10 and 20 accepted answers adds +0.2, +0.3 and +0.5 respectively. Reaching 30, 40 and 50 adds another +1 at each milestone. Every milestone reached contributes, so the quick-fire bonus comes from accumulating accepted answers within the time limit.
Each answer counts once per question. Synonyms and more specific versions of an answer already submitted can count as duplicates; overly broad or out-of-scope answers are rejected. Plurals, British and American spellings, and small typos are supported, sometimes through a suggested answer you can accept.
When time expires, the golfer hits the ball. Each subsequent shot begins where the previous one landed, and your final score is the combined distance of all three shots. A new course opens at midnight UTC.

How to Play Wordey
- Tee off and read the category's scope. Starting the shot reveals the question and begins its timer. Check the qualifying details before entering answers.
- Type an answer and press Enter. Accepted answers receive a grade and build your shot. If the game suggests a correction, accept it if appropriate; if it flags a duplicate, move to a different answer.
- Build your list while watching the clock. Submit familiar answers promptly to work toward quantity milestones, then add less obvious answers you know fit the category. Rephrasing an existing answer will not earn extra credit.
- Review the shot and continue. At the end of the minute, the game tallies your bonuses and sends the ball down the course. You can pause between shots; the next timer starts when you tee off again. Complete all three to see your total distance.
