Adoptle

What is Adoptle?

Adoptle is a daily feel-good Wordle variant where you guess the name of a real adoptable pet (dog or cat) from shelter listings. Names range from simple words like "Mini" to unique ones like "Mazie" — making every puzzle a charming mix of vocabulary skill and pet intuition.

The game rewards strategic thinking with colored tile feedback while spotlighting pets available for adoption. Solving it feels rewarding because you get to see the actual pet's photo, age, location, and adoption details.

Adoptle Game

Adoptle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

You have up to 10 guesses to identify the hidden pet name. Each guess must be a valid word or name (shorter or longer guesses are sometimes allowed).

  • Teal tile: Letter is in the correct position — LOCKED IN.
  • Olive tile: Letter is in the name but in the wrong position.
  • Gray tile: Letter is not in the name at all — ELIMINATED.

A new pet puzzle drops every day at midnight EST. Win or lose, you get to meet the featured pet and explore adoption options.

How To Play Adoptle?

Step 1: Opening Guess
Enter a common pet name or word with frequent letters (e.g., "Buddy" or "Luna").
Result: Tiles colorize instantly. Suppose B and D turn gray, U turns olive.
What you learn: No B or D; U belongs somewhere else.

Step 2: Refine with Feedback
Use new information — try "Luna".
Result: L and N go teal, U shifts to teal.
What you learn: Strong start on "LUNA__" or similar pattern.

Step 3: Test & Eliminate
Lock confirmed letters and test new ones (e.g., "L U N A" variants or fresh letters).
Result: More teals and olives appear; grays clear options.
What you learn: Exact remaining letters and positions.

Step 4: Final Guesses
With tiles mostly teal, input your reconstructed name.
Result: Full teal row = victory! The pet's photo and info appear.

Step 5: Victory Reveal
Celebrate solving it and check the pet's details (age, breed, location) plus adoption links.

Strategy & Tips

  • Prioritize common pet-name letters early (vowels + R, S, T, L, N) for maximum info.
  • Think shelter-style names: cute, short, or slightly whimsical.
  • Gray letters are powerful — use them to ruthlessly eliminate possibilities.
  • Play daily to get better at spotting real pet-naming trends while supporting animal adoption awareness.
