What Is Chainle?
Chainle is a daily word-association game about finding a word that connects the clues as strongly as possible. Instead of uncovering a fixed answer letter by letter, you submit a word based on meaning and receive a score showing how well it fits the clues.
A daily game contains five rounds, and everyone receives the same challenge. Each round can award up to 1,000 points, making 5,000 points the maximum daily score.
For example, if a round showed:
pizza — ? — pasta
A word such as tomato could be a strong answer because it has a natural relationship with both pizza and pasta.
Chainle is therefore less about spelling and more about vocabulary, associations, common phrases, and recognizing concepts that sit between multiple ideas.
Chainle Rules and Core Twist
The main twist is that Chainle does not always have one rigid correct answer. Your submission is evaluated by how closely it connects to all of the clues in the round.
The five daily rounds use three formats:
- Rounds 1–3: Two-word bridges. Find one word that connects two clue words.
- Round 4: Three-word bridge. Find one word with a meaningful relationship to all three clues.
- Round 5: Closest connection. Enter the word you think is closest in meaning to the clue.
You receive one submitted guess per round, so choosing a precise connection matters. A word that relates strongly to one clue but poorly to another may score much lower than a word sitting naturally between all of them.
A perfect or near-perfect connection can score close to the round's 1,000-point maximum. After five rounds, the scores are combined into your daily total.
How to Play Chainle
- Read every clue carefully. In a two-word round, suppose the clues are
pizzaandpasta. Think about ideas that naturally belong with both rather than simply finding a word associated with one clue. - Brainstorm several bridge words. For
pizzaandpasta, candidates might includeItalian, cheese, sauce, ortomato. Compare how naturally each candidate connects to both clues. - Submit your strongest choice. You only get one submitted answer for the round, so commit to the word that has the most balanced relationship with every clue.
- Check your score and move on. Chainle evaluates the semantic connection and awards up to 1,000 points. Complete all five rounds to receive your daily score out of 5,000.
- Compare or try older puzzles. Since everyone receives the same daily set, scores are easy to compare with friends. An archive also lets you revisit previous Chainle puzzles.
Strategy Tips for Better Chainle Scores
Look for balanced connections. The best answer usually relates clearly to every clue. An excellent connection to one word cannot always compensate for a weak relationship to another.
Test common phrases and compounds. Try putting each candidate before or after every clue. Shared phrases, objects, categories, materials, actions, and cultural associations can all provide strong bridges.
Do not submit the first plausible word. Because each round gives you only one submitted guess, spend a moment generating two or three alternatives before choosing.
Treat the three-word round more strictly. A candidate that works brilliantly with two clues but barely connects to the third is unlikely to be the strongest option. Search for the shared concept at the center of all three.
Change your thinking for the final round. The closest-connection challenge focuses more directly on semantic similarity. If the clue were violin, for example, another closely related string instrument such as cello could be more promising than a broad word such as music.
Chainle works especially well for players who enjoy Connections-style associations, semantic word games, and short daily puzzles where a single carefully chosen answer can make a large difference to the final score.
