What is hexcodle?

Hexcodle is the daily color heist that turns your screen into a battlefield. A single vibrant Target shade appears — no clues, no mercy — and you have exactly five guesses to extract its secret 6-digit hex code (#RRGGBB). One slip and the color slips away forever.

The brutal twist? Every wrong guess shows your swatch right next to the target while razor-sharp arrows reveal the truth about each individual hex digit. It’s Wordle meets color theory meets surgical number-crunching: visually addictive, strategically vicious, and weirdly satisfying when you finally lock it in.

hexcodle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

You are locked in a 5-guess duel with a hidden hex code that controls the Target color on screen.

• Target color is always visible — a big square of the exact mystery shade.
• Enter any valid 6-digit hex code using 0-9 and A-F.
• After each incorrect guess your color swatch appears below the target.
• Feedback hits instantly on every single digit:
  • ✓ = perfect match for that position
  • ↑ or ↑↑ = your digit is too low (single arrow = off by 1-2, double = way off)
  • ↓ or ↓↓ = your digit is too high (same magnitude system)
• The arrows tell you exactly which digit to raise or lower and roughly how far — no guessing the distance yourself.
• Hard mode strips away the extra arrow magnitude info for pure veterans.

The trap is merciless: your eyes swear two colors are “basically the same,” but the arrows demand surgical precision. Close visually means nothing — only the exact code survives.

How To Play hexcodle?

Step 1: Face the Target
Stare at the big mystery color square. Take your best shot at its hex code based on gut instinct or rough RGB estimates.

Game Response: Your swatch appears. Feedback lights up under each digit.
What You Learn: Direction and rough distance for every single character.

Step 2: Read the Arrows
Adjust only the digits the arrows point out. Keep the correct ✓ digits locked.
Player Guesses: #1A8B8C (tweaked first and second digits)
Game Response: New swatch + fresh arrow set.
What You Learn: You’re closing in — maybe only two digits still need nudging.

Step 3: Fine-Tune Visually + Numerically
Use both the color difference you can see and the arrow guidance to zero in.
Player Guesses: #1A8A8D
Game Response: Even closer swatch match.
What You Learn: Only one digit still screaming for adjustment.

Step 4: Lock It In
On your final guess, combine everything you’ve learned. Nail the exact code and the Target and your swatch become identical twins.
Result: Victory screen + streak counter. Miss and the daily color vanishes until tomorrow.

Strategy & Tips

Treat each of the six digits as its own mini battle — they’re independent. Binary search is king: start around 8 and halve the possibilities with every arrow.

Color pros estimate the red/green/blue levels first, convert those rough values to hex pairs, then let the arrows do the micro-adjustments.

Once you’re consistent, flip on hard mode and remove the training wheels. Daily streaks are waiting for anyone brave enough to face the hex beast head-on.
