What is historydle?
Historydle drops you straight into the fog of time. One mystery historical figure stands hidden each day, and your mission is to unmask them before the clock resets. Forget random guesses—this game turns you into a time-traveling detective armed with era clues, regional hints, roles, and dramatic reveals.
The core twist? Every wrong guess sharpens the picture with color-coded feedback, forcing you to connect the dots between centuries, continents, and legends. It’s challenging because one misplaced emperor can send you spiraling into the wrong millennium, surprising because the answer might be a forgotten scientist or a queen who changed the world, and utterly addictive because you’re learning real history while battling the daily puzzle.

historydle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)
Historydle pits you against four modes—Classic, Quote, Portrait, and Places—but the heartbeat is the same: decode the mystery using limited clues and smart guesses.
- Clues unlock progressively: Start with basic facts (era, region, role, gender, status) or a single quote/portrait/landmark.
- Color-coded feedback on every guess:
- 🟩 Green = Exact match! Your guess nailed that attribute.
- 🟨 Yellow = Close, but not exact. You’re in the right ballpark.
- ⬜ Gray = No match. Eliminate that path completely.
- You guess the full name: Type any historical figure. The game instantly compares their known traits to the mystery one and reveals more clues.
- Daily lock-in: One fresh puzzle per mode resets at midnight. No practice rounds—the pressure is real.
- Win condition: Nail the exact figure and watch the full portrait or bio explode onto the screen. Share your score (number of guesses) and flex your history mastery.
The trap? Early guesses feel safe… until the colors prove you were chasing ghosts in the wrong century.

Strategy & Tips for historydle
- Start broad: Use your first guess to test huge categories (e.g., “Napoleon” for European leaders). The colors will instantly tell you which continent or century to hunt in.
- Chain the clues: If Era is green but Role is gray, immediately eliminate everyone outside that time window.
- Quote & Portrait modes reward memory: Recognize “I think, therefore I am” instantly? You win in one guess.
- Track patterns: Keep mental notes of who’s already been used—Historydle pulls from 199+ real figures, so yesterday’s answer can’t return.
- Play all modes daily: Classic builds logic, Quote tests knowledge, Portrait sharpens faces, Places teaches landmarks. Together they make you unstoppable.
