What is MapMorph?

MapMorph is a daily geography game about recognizing country outlines. The white silhouette can represent one country or a pair of neighboring countries fused into a single shape. That second possibility changes the puzzle: a familiar coastline may belong to one country while an unfamiliar extension belongs to its neighbor.

You have six guesses to identify the target. Each attempt provides geographical feedback to help you revise your idea.

Single-country and paired guesses

The answer form supports a country in the first field and, when needed, a second country for a pair. A correct country is marked green and an incorrect one red. The game also reports distance and direction toward the target.

Do not assume every outline corresponds to one country you have seen on a map. For a pair, the shared internal border disappears into the combined outer boundary. Look for the coast, peninsulas, and corners of the entire silhouette.

MapMorph's white silhouette and country fields for a single-country or bordering-pair guess.

How to play the daily map

  1. Examine the silhouette before typing, noting its overall proportions and distinctive edges.
  2. Decide whether one country seems plausible or whether the shape could be a bordering pair.
  3. Enter your country selection, adding the second country if you are making a pair guess.
  4. Submit and read both the country colors and the distance/direction feedback.
  5. Keep any confirmed country and revise the uncertain part of the answer before the six guesses run out.

Tips for recognizing fused outlines

Imagine removing a neighboring country from the outline to see whether the remainder becomes familiar. A long straight edge can suggest a land border, while a deeply indented coast may offer a more distinctive landmark.

Use geographical feedback to test a region, not just to pick the next country on an alphabetical list. If the target is clearly far from your first choice, change your regional hypothesis before spending another guess on a close neighbor.
