What is Nerdcube Carom?
Carom is a free daily sliding-piece puzzle from Nerdcube Daily. Each day you get a fresh grid with walls, movable pieces, and a highlighted goal. Your job is to get the target piece onto the goal square using as few slides as possible.
It sits alongside other Nerdcube Daily games (Dabble, Inlay, Trio, Jumble) and focuses on spatial planning rather than wordplay.
Rules and core twist
- Select a piece, then slide it in a cardinal direction.
- Pieces keep sliding until they hit a wall or another piece—there is no mid-path stop unless something blocks them.
- Blocker pieces are tools: use them as intentional stopping points so the target can rest where you need it.
- Aim for the fewest moves; the game tracks your move count against the puzzle's optimal solution when available.
The carom feel comes from banking pieces off walls and each other to redirect the target, not from free-form dragging to any tile.
How to play
- Open the daily Carom board at nerdcube.games/carom and study the walls, pieces, and goal.
- Tap or click a piece to select it, then use swipe or arrow input to send it sliding until it stops.
- Reposition blockers so the target can stop on the path you want instead of overshooting.
- Keep sliding until the target lands on the goal; check your move count against the optimal when you finish.
- Share or archive the result, then come back tomorrow for a new layout.
Tips
- Plan the stopping squares before the first move—every slide is committed once it starts.
- Sometimes moving a seemingly wrong piece first creates the bumper you need later.
- If you are far over optimal, reset and try forcing the target through a different corridor.
