Ravel Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

You choose your battlefield (any topic or Daily Ravel) and the game secretly selects one mystery name.

• You MUST guess the exact full name within 7 tries.
• After every miss, the grid lights up with match clues for the topic’s attributes:
  • = → this attribute matches the secret (LOCKED IN)
  • ≠ → this attribute does NOT match (ELIMINATED)
• For College Football Team (the example at the link you shared): Conference = / ≠ , Region = / ≠ , State = / ≠ , #Words = / ≠
• Alphabetical letter feedback on the name you guessed:
  • Blue = your guess comes alphabetically BEFORE the answer
  • Red = your guess comes alphabetically AFTER
  • Green = correct letter in the right position
• Break a revealed clue? You get a 🥚 egg. Too many eggs and your run is cursed.
• The trap is merciless: clues are powerful but you CANNOT ignore them. The mystery name stays hidden until you deduce it perfectly.

How To Play Ravel?

Step 1: Pick Your Topic & First Strike
Choose College Football Team (or any topic) and throw your opening guess. Type the first few letters and pick from the popup list.
Player Guesses: “Ohio State Buckeyes”
Game Response: Wrong. Feedback grid appears instantly with = / ≠ for every attribute.
What You Learn: Conference: = State: ≠ #Words: = plus blue/red/green letter highlights.

Step 2: Read the Clues & Eliminate
Use every = and ≠ to cross off impossible teams.
Player Guesses: “Alabama Crimson Tide” (same conference, different state)
Result: Conference: = State: ≠ Region: = 🥚 appears (you ignored a prior clue).
What This Means: You’re now locked to the correct conference/region but must nail the exact state and name.

Step 3: Narrow With Letter Hints
Combine attribute matches with blue/red/green letter clues to zero in.
Player Guesses: “Michigan Wolverines”
Result: All major attributes = green on first letter, red on name order.
What This Means: You’re one letter tweak and one name adjustment away from victory.

Step 4: Final Lock-In
Deliver the exact name using everything you’ve deduced.
Result: Full match across the board. Victory screen + streak counter unlocks. Miss and the mystery name is revealed — game over until tomorrow’s Daily Ravel.

Strategy & Tips

Treat every attribute as its own elimination round — the more = clues you collect, the smaller the pool becomes. Always check alphabetical colors early; they’re free information that halves your options instantly. Never guess randomly after the first try; every move must respect previous clues or the 🥚 will bury you. For the College Football Team version, memorize the 138 FBS teams, conferences, and states — daily streaks are waiting for anyone brave enough to face the Ravel beast head-on.
