What is Tune Guessr?
Tune Guessr is a daily listening game with a geography answer. You hear a music excerpt and try to identify the country it comes from. The title and artist are not the target: the puzzle asks you to combine musical clues with geographical reasoning.
The first excerpt is short. Further guesses unlock more audio and additional information, so the challenge gradually becomes easier to interpret without removing the need to choose a country.
Audio hints and geographical feedback
You have five country guesses. After an incorrect answer, a compass points toward the target, while a temperature-style label indicates how close you are. The scale runs from cold results to very hot ones, and Borders! identifies a neighboring-country guess.
More of the clip becomes available as you play, alongside hints about genre, instruments, and region. These clues should be combined: an instrument alone rarely identifies one country with certainty.

How to solve the daily music mystery
- Play the opening excerpt and listen for language, rhythm, instrumentation, and recording style.
- Enter a country that fits the strongest combination of clues.
- Read the compass and proximity feedback after a miss.
- Listen again when the excerpt expands and incorporate any newly unlocked hints.
- Refine the region and choose the country before your five guesses are used.
Listening tips
Avoid treating a language as proof of one national origin. Languages cross borders, and musicians borrow styles and instruments. Use the audio to form a hypothesis, then let the direction and proximity feedback test it.
When the answer seems close, compare neighboring countries against all the clues rather than making a broad jump to a different continent. The site also offers archive and endless-play controls if you want to practise beyond the daily puzzle.
