What Is Coastle?
Coastle is a browser-based roller coaster guessing game built around statistical comparisons. A mystery coaster is selected, and your job is to identify it by guessing real roller coasters and comparing their attributes with the hidden ride.
Each guess is evaluated across several coaster characteristics, including Country, Manufacturer, Seating, Inversions, Height, Length, and Speed.
You have six guesses to identify the correct coaster. As the round progresses, additional hints can help narrow the possibilities.
The Core Coastle Rules
Start by searching for a roller coaster by name and selecting the correct ride from the available results.
After submitting a guess, Coastle compares it with the mystery coaster using these attributes:
- Country
- Manufacturer
- Seating
- Inversions
- Height
- Length
- Speed
Categorical attributes can show whether they match the answer, while numerical attributes can indicate whether the mystery coaster's value is higher or lower than your guess.
For example, if you guess a coaster that is 50 meters tall and the height clue points higher, the mystery ride is taller than 50 meters. If the manufacturer matches exactly, you can focus your next guesses on other coasters from that manufacturer.
The round ends when you identify the mystery coaster or use all six guesses.
How to Play Coastle
- Choose a useful opening coaster. Pick a ride you know well, ideally with fairly average statistics so the comparison clues give you useful ranges.
- Read every result. Check which attributes match and whether height, length, speed, and inversion counts need to go higher or lower.
- Narrow the candidate pool. Combine categorical matches with numerical ranges instead of relying on a single clue.
- Use the unlocked hints. Later in the round, Coastle provides extra information that can help identify the coaster.
- Make your final guesses. Use everything you have learned from the previous comparisons to find the correct ride before the sixth guess.
Example of a Coastle Guess
Imagine one of your guesses produces these clues:
Country: Match
Manufacturer: Match
Seating: No Match
Inversions: Higher
Height: Higher
Length: Lower
Speed: Higher
This tells you that the mystery coaster is located in the same country and comes from the same manufacturer as your guess, but uses a different seating configuration.
It also has more inversions, greater height, higher speed, and a shorter track.
A good next move would be another coaster from the same manufacturer and country that fits those updated statistical ranges.
Coastle Hints
Coastle adds extra hints as you move deeper into the round. One hint can reveal the first letter of the coaster's name, while another can reveal the park where the coaster is located.
These hints become especially useful when several rides have similar manufacturers and statistics.
Once the park is known, you can think through that park's coaster lineup and compare each likely candidate with the clues you already collected.
Daily and Endless Play
Coastle supports a daily challenge where players work on the same mystery coaster. It also includes an Endless mode for players who want to continue guessing after finishing the daily puzzle.
This makes the game suitable for both a quick daily challenge and longer sessions for roller coaster fans.
Coastle Strategy Tips
- Use a balanced first guess. A coaster with moderate height, speed, length, and inversions can make higher-or-lower clues more useful.
- Prioritize manufacturer and country matches. These can remove large portions of the possible coaster pool.
- Combine clues together. A manufacturer match plus a speed range and height range is much more useful than any one clue alone.
- Do not ignore seating. Seating configuration can separate coasters that otherwise have similar statistics.
- Use the park hint carefully. Once the park is revealed, compare its coaster lineup against every previous clue.
- Think in ranges. Keep track of upper and lower limits for height, speed, length, and inversions as your guesses progress.
