What is Dordle?

Brace yourself for double the pressure and double the glory with Dordle — the Wordle variant that throws two independent 5-letter mysteries at you at the same time. Instead of conquering one word, you must unravel two entirely unrelated words using a single shared set of guesses.

The twist that makes it intensely strategic and addictive: every word you type appears on both grids simultaneously, but each grid delivers its own color feedback. A letter that’s perfect on the left might be completely useless on the right. It’s challenging because you’re constantly balancing information — one strong guess can advance both puzzles or force you to sacrifice progress on one to crack the other. Survive the 7 guesses and claim victory over the daily duo.

Dordle Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

You have exactly 7 guesses to solve two separate 5-letter words.

  • Each turn, you enter one 5-letter word that gets submitted to both grids at the same time.
  • The two grids provide independent color feedback:
    • 🟩 Green: Letter is in the correct position for that specific word.
    • 🟨 Yellow: Letter is in that word but in the wrong position.
    • ⬜ Gray: Letter is not in that word at all.
  • The keyboard is usually split: left half shows status for the left word, right half for the right word.
  • The two secret words are completely unrelated — no shared letters required.
  • WIN CONDITION: Correctly guess both words within the 7 attempts. Solve one early and you can focus your remaining guesses on the tougher one.
  • One fresh pair of words drops daily.

How To Play Dordle?

  1. Face the Dual Grids — Load the daily puzzle to see two empty 5×7 grids side by side. The shared keyboard waits below.

  2. Enter Your First Guess — Type any valid 5-letter word (e.g., "STARE") and submit. It fills both grids instantly.

  3. Read Dual Feedback — Colors appear separately:

    • Left grid: STARE → S🟩 T⬜ A🟨 R⬜ E⬜ (example)
    • Right grid: STARE → S⬜ T🟨 A⬜ R🟩 E⬜
    • What you learn: Different letter placements and presences for each word.
  4. Refine with Balanced Guesses — Use information from both sides to craft smarter next guesses. Example second guess "TRAIN":

    • Adjust based on yellows and greens from the first round to test new letters while confirming positions.
    • Next Constraint: One grid might lock in several greens while the other still needs broad exploration.
  5. Secure the Double Win — When both grids turn fully green, victory! The game reveals both words and your remaining guesses. If you solve one early, pour everything into the survivor.

Strategy & Tips

Start with strong opener words rich in common vowels and consonants (like "AUDIO", "STERN", or "CRANE") to gather maximum information for both puzzles at once. Pay close attention to the split keyboard colors — they help track which letters work where. Once one word starts revealing greens, shift focus to the lagging grid without ignoring the first. Use early guesses for exploration, mid-game for confirmation, and late guesses to snipe the remaining letters. Play daily to train your ability to juggle dual constraints — the more you practice, the better you get at turning conflicting clues into coordinated victories.
