What is Far Out?

Far Out is a daily trivia game that does not demand exact knowledge—it demands dangerously good guesses. You begin with 100 points and face three questions whose answers are numbers, quantities, ages, distances, dates, or other measurable facts.

The twist is brutally simple: every unit separating your estimate from the real answer is deducted from your score. A near miss barely scratches you, but one wildly confident guess can send your score crashing toward zero. The questions change daily, making Far Out a quick test of general knowledge, intuition, and your ability to reason when you have absolutely no idea.

Far Out Game Rules (The Catch / The Trap)

You receive three numerical estimation questions and one score to protect:

Starting Score: 100

For each question, the game compares your estimate with the correct value:

Your Guess: 42

Correct Answer: 47

Difference: 5 → Lose 5 points

The rules are straightforward:

• You MUST submit a numerical estimate for each question.
• The difference between your guess and the correct answer is deducted from your current score.
• An exact answer costs 0 points.
• A close estimate causes limited damage; a far-out estimate can destroy the run.
• If your score reaches zero, you can finish the quiz, but your final score remains 0.
• Your result after all three questions is scored out of 100.

The trap is that confident knowledge and sensible approximation are equally valuable. Sometimes calculating from familiar facts saves you; sometimes your first instinct is closer than the elaborate theory you invent afterward.

How To Play Far Out?

1. Enter with 100 points

The first daily question appears, such as: “How many episodes were produced?” You inspect the wording, consider anything you know, and choose an estimate.

2. Submit your first guess

Player Guesses: 120

Correct Answer: 126

Result: -6 points

Score: 100 → 94

3. Survive the second question

A completely different numerical topic appears. You estimate 28, the answer is 31, and the three-point difference leaves you with 91.

4. Protect the remaining score

The final question may be the strangest of the day. Submit your last estimate, absorb the final deduction, and reveal your score out of 100.

5. Share the damage

Compare your result with other players and return for three new estimation challenges the next day.

Far Out Strategy & Tips

Break intimidating questions into smaller facts you can estimate. For a question involving a lifetime total, estimate the amount per day or year first and multiply. For population, distance, or size questions, compare the unknown value with something familiar.

Pay close attention to units and wording. Confusing millions with thousands or years with months can erase the entire score instantly. When no calculation is possible, choose a defensible middle estimate rather than an extreme answer—the objective is not always perfection, but avoiding catastrophic damage.
