What is Speedle?
Speedle reverses the usual Wordle task. You are shown a five-letter hint word with colored feedback and must supply any valid word that would produce that exact pattern. There is no single hidden answer to discover.
Each daily game has three rounds and only one submitted guess per round. The stopwatch adds pressure, but checking the complete pattern before pressing Enter matters more than typing the first plausible word.
Read the hint as constraints
A green hint letter belongs in the same position in your answer. A yellow letter belongs somewhere else. A gray letter is absent, subject to the usual repeated-letter counting: yellow and gray copies of one letter can mean the answer contains exactly one copy.
Easy supplies two greens and one yellow; Medium supplies one green and two yellows; Hard supplies three yellows. Each round asks for a real five-letter word. An invalid five-letter submission uses your attempt and loses that round.
How to play
- Choose today's Speedle and read the colored hint before typing.
- Keep green letters fixed and find different positions for all yellow letters.
- Exclude gray letters while checking any repeated-letter constraints, then form a valid five-letter word.
- Submit once and review whether its feedback matches the hint. Continue through Medium and Hard.
- Finish all three rounds and review your success count and total solving time.
Check position and quantity separately
For an invented constraint, a yellow R in the second square tells you that R must appear somewhere other than square two. It does not tell you its final position. If another R is gray, adding a second R may invalidate an otherwise attractive answer.
Before submitting, mentally test each hint tile against your proposed word. The timer pauses in the instructions and between rounds, and there is no account requirement to play. Signed-in players with three successful rounds can compare times on the daily leaderboard.
A new shared set arrives at midnight Central time. Maintaining a streak requires clearing all three rounds.
