What is SteppedUpdle?
SteppedUpdle is a daily word-guessing game that grows as you solve it. Begin with a four-letter answer, then advance through five-, six-, and seven-letter answers in order.
The central twist is the shared budget: you have 20 guesses for the entire sequence. Solving a stage opens the next word, but it does not refill your allowance. A quick start gives you more freedom when the answers get longer.
Four stages, one allowance
Enter a valid word of the current stage's length. After submission, the tiles show how that guess compares with the hidden answer: green marks a correct letter in the correct position, yellow marks a letter that belongs in another position, and gray marks a letter that is absent, subject to how many copies the answer contains.
Solve the current word to move up a step. You must finish all four words before the shared guesses run out. A fresh stepping puzzle arrives each day at midnight; use the game's own daily display when checking the rollover.
How to play
- Open today's puzzle and begin on the four-letter board.
- Type a valid four-letter guess and submit it with Enter.
- Use the color feedback to keep confirmed positions and test the remaining possibilities.
- When you solve the word, switch to the next stage's word length and check your remaining guesses.
- Continue through the seven-letter stage while staying within the total allowance of 20.
Budgeting example
If the first stage takes four guesses and the second takes five, you have 11 guesses left for the six- and seven-letter words together. That is a budget illustration, not a required pace or an answer hint.
Early guesses should provide useful information about several plausible answers. Once a position is confirmed, pay attention to what a new guess can teach you elsewhere. When a letter appears twice in a guess, read both tiles together rather than assuming a single yellow tile proves two copies are present.
