What is What's the Area?
What's the Area? is a daily geometry estimation game. A shape is divided by spokes meeting at a pink dot; you drag that dot to the point where all the slices have equal area.
The daily set contains three shapes, with one committed attempt per shape. There is no live accuracy feedback while you position the dot, so you must assess the balance before submitting.
Equal area is the target
Slices with equal angles do not necessarily have equal areas. A wedge that reaches farther toward an irregular edge can contain more material than a wider-looking wedge on the short side. Inspect the whole outline instead of using the center of its bounding rectangle automatically.
Each daily shape is scored out of 100, giving a total out of 300. Everyone receives the same three shapes, which makes comparing results meaningful even when each player approached the geometry differently.
How to play
- Choose Today's shapes and inspect the first outline and its spokes.
- Locate regions with noticeably more or less area around the pink dot.
- Drag the dot until the slices look balanced, then submit your one attempt.
- Read the result and repeat the process for the remaining two shapes.
- Review your total out of 300 and compare the daily result with friends or the leaderboard.
A practical visual check
Use symmetry when it is present: a balanced outline gives you a useful starting line or central region. Then examine each slice individually. On an uneven outline, moving toward the apparent visual center is only a starting hypothesis, not proof that the areas match.
Before submitting, ask whether one slice contains a long extension or broad corner that your eye overlooked. This often matters more than making every spoke angle look similar.
The separate Challenge mode keeps supplying harder puzzles. From round three onward, the last three scores must total at least 255 to continue. That rolling survival target is different from completing the daily trio.
